| Resumo |
Os Batuques são nominações genéricas às manifestações culturais de origem afro-brasileira presente em algumas cidades do estado de São Paulo, principalmente na região chamada de zona batuqueira paulista localizada no vale do médio Tietê. Em Araraquara, o batuque está presente nas memórias de quem o vivenciou de forma direta ou indireta o entro. Neste sentido, a presente pesquisa investiga as contribuições da memória e da tradição oral do batuque para o fortalecimento de uma cultura negra em Araraquara, bem como compreender como se deu sua constituição. A investigação se fundamentou na pesquisa bibliográfica e na coleta de depoimentos de sujeitos que vivenciaram ou ainda detêm lembranças sobre o batuque. Foi orientado pela metodologia da história oral cuja as principais fontes são a memória e a oralidade, sendo estas utilizadas como instrumentos que promovem a manutenção de histórias que foram marginalizadas e não estão presentes na história oficial da cidade, mas foram transmitidas no ambiente familiar e nos círculos de amizade, viabilizando o conhecimento de múltiplas vivências e revelando os significados e interpretações construídas pelo grupo.

ABSTRACT
The Batuques are generic nominations to the cultural manifestations of Afro-Brazilian origin present in some cities of the state of São Paulo, mainly in the region called the batuqueira zone of São Paulo located in the middle Tietê valley. In Araraquara, the batuque is present in the memories of those who experienced it directly or indirectly. In this sense, the present research investigates the contributions of the memory and oral tradition of the batuque to the strengthening of a black culture in Araraquara, as well as to understand how its constitution was given. The research was based on the bibliographical research and the collection of testimonies of subjects who have experienced or still have memories about the batuque. It was guided by the methodology of oral history whose main sources are memory and orality, these being used as instruments that promote the maintenance of stories that were marginalized and are not present in the official history of the city, but were transmitted in the family environment and in the circles of friendship, enabling the knowledge of multiple experiences and revealing the meanings and interpretations built by the group.
