RESUMO
As criações lexicais literárias dificilmente incorporam o léxico de uma língua visto que apresentam particularidades de caráter estilístico que desempenham função expressiva no enunciado em que se inserem. Todavia, os efeitos de sentido que elas produzem no nível do discurso conferem-lhes relevância, sobretudo nas produções modernistas, tornando-as dignas de atenção. Além disso, elas denotam a potencialidade das regras que as geram e representam uma virtualidade do sistema. Esta tese tem por objetivo, portanto, analisar as criações lexicais no complexo de obras de João Cabral de Melo Neto, escritor pertencente à terceira fase do Modernismo brasileiro, cuja poética pautada no rigor da forma da linguagem beneficia-se sobremaneira deste recurso, muito embora seja pouco estudada na esfera da neologia lexical literária, no âmbito da ciência linguística. A pesquisa fundamenta-se nos Estudos do Léxico para a identificação e classificação das criações lexicais presentes na poética cabralina sob o ponto de vista teórico de Guilbert (1975), complementado pelas teorias e classificações aplicadas à língua portuguesa de Barbosa (1981), Alves (2002) e Correia e Lemos (2009). A perspectiva de análise adotada requer fundamentação também na Estilística Léxica para a compreensão e demonstração do valor expressivo da unidade léxica criada e para a depreensão dos efeitos de sentido que elas engendram no discurso cabralino, tendo por base os pressupostos teóricos de Cressot (1976), Câmara Jr (2004) e Martins (2000). Os resultados da análise demonstram a presença significativa de criações lexicais na poética de João Cabral e apontam que elas atuam como coadjuvantes na constituição linguístico-discursiva que o próprio poeta almeja construída pela estratégia de superação da dicotomia entre expressão e construção.

ABSTRACT
The lexical literary creations hardly incorporate the lexicon of a language as they take particularities of stylistic character they play a significant role in the statement to which they belong. However, the effects of meaning that they produce at the level of discourse give them relevance, especially in modernist productions, making them worthy of attention. Moreover, they denote the potentiality of the rules that generate them and represent a virtuality of the system. This thesis aims therefore to analyze the lexical creations in the complex works of João Cabral de Melo Neto, writer belonging to the third phase of Brazilian Modernism, whose poetic based on the rigor of the language form greatly benefits from this resource, although it is little studied in the sphere of lexical neology literary, in the context of linguistic science. The research is based on studies of the Lexicon for the identification and classification of lexical creations in the cabralina poetic under the theoretical point of view of Guilbert (1975), complemented by theories and classifications applied to the Portuguese of Barbosa (1981), Alves ( 2002) and Correia and Lemos (2009). The analytical perspective adopted also requires reason in the Lexical Stylistic to the understanding and demonstration of the expressive value of the lexical unit created and to the apprehension of the effects of meaning they engender in
the cabralino discourse, based on the theoretical assumptions of Cressot (1976), Câmara Jr (2004) and Martins (2000). The analysis results show the significant presence of lexical creations in the poetic of João Cabral and show that they act as supporting in the linguistic and discursive constitution that the poet himself wishes "built" by a strategy of overcoming of the dichotomy between expression and construction.
