RESUMO
As discussões a respeito do mal são tão antigas quanto complexas. John Milton, poeta inglês, debruçou-se sobre o tema ao longo de sua vida, e se dedicou a produzir trabalhos em prosa e poesia sobre a questão da presença do mal. Este trabalho buscará lançar luz sobre esse tema obscuro, muitas vezes tratado como intocável, misterioso ou ainda dogmático, e investigar como John Milton o aborda em sua obra Paradise lost. Observando a gênese do mal no mundo, além dos motivadores externos e psicológicos que contribuem para sua presença na vida humana. Para tal, na primeira parte será exposta e comentada a biografia e o pensamento de John Milton, na medida em que contribuam para compreender com clareza sua obra poética e sua teodiceia. Em seguida, na segunda parte, será feita uma incursão pelo filosofema do problema do mal, também chamado Teodiceia, fazendo uso das sistematizações de pensadores como Agostinho e Louis Lavelle; Apologetas, como Peter Kreeft; para que se possa iluminar a questão em sua complexidade e com minúcia. Finalmente, na terceira parte deste trabalho, será observado como John Milton tomou este tema como o central em sua obra Paradise lost, que será comentada livro a livro na seção referente; e como essa epopeia escrita de forma apologética busca explicar as razões de Deus ao homem, além de ser um projeto miltoniano que buscava educar o homem a respeito de uma das questões mais antigas: a existência do mal.

ABSTRACT
The discussions around evil are as old as complex. John Milton, english poet, devoted himself to the theme through his life, and dedicated it to produce works in prose and poetry about the question of the presence of evil. This work will enlighten this obscure subject, considered, sometimes, as untouchable, mysterious or even dogmatic, and investigate how Joh Milton aroaches in his work Paradise Lost. Observing the birth of evil in the world, and also the external and psychological movers that contribute to its presence in human life. For so, in the first part it will be exposed and commented the biography and thought of John Milton, as far as it can contribute to the clear understanding of Milton’ poetci work and theodicy. Afterwards, in the secont part, it will be made a incursion through the philosopheme of the problem of evil, also called Theodicy, using systematizations of thinkers such as Augustine and Louis Lavelle; Apologists, like Peter Kreeft; to illuminate the subject in its complexity and with detail. Finally, in the third part of this work, it will be observed how John Milton took this subject as central to his work Paradise Lost, that will be commented book by book in its section; and how this epic poem written in apologetic form wants to explain the reasons of God to men, while also being a miltonic project that sought to educate men in terms of on of the most ancient subject: the existence of evil.
