RESUMO
Esta pesquisa analisou os desenhos que foram produzidos durante a segunda expedição do etnólogo alemão Karl von den Steinen ao Alto Xingu, a partir de uma relação entre subjetividade e memória, evidenciando as lacunas, as interrogações, os silêncios e os esquecimentos, a respeito das perspectivas e sensibilidades que envolvem estes desenhos; que nos são apresentadas indiretamente, através dos ‘rastros’ deixados pelos sujeitos que os desenharam, e que acabam tensionando, escapando e decompondo toda a ordem e intencionalidade da narrativa proposta por Karl von den Steinen. Nesse sentido, buscamos compreender como foram produzidos, coletados, analisados e narrativizados os desenhos efetuados pelos sujeitos ameríndios durante a segunda expedição e também os desenhos efetuados por Wilhelm von den Steinen e Johannes Gehrts; ao mesmo tempo em que articulamos essas informações com registros sócio-históricos realizados e compilados por não indígenas, de modo que pudéssemos entender quais as correntes de pensamento dominantes neste período, e como estas influenciaram Karl von den Steinen em seus fundamentos teóricos e metodológicos. Além disso, comparamos as análises efetuadas por Karl von den Steinen com as principais pesquisas etnográficas realizadas sobre os povos ameríndios contactados pela expedição, visando compreender os aspectos cosmológicos fundamentais de suas culturas, e em como estes aparecem em seus desenhos. A partir dos resultados obtidos, pudemos compreender que esses desenhos se apresentam enquanto rastros de uma experiência do contato entre diferentes povos e culturas, um processo de reflexão sobre ‘si’ a partir do contato com o ‘outro’. De modo que tanto os desenhistas Boe e Kurâ, quanto os artistas alemães Wilhelm e Gehrts, mesmo sem a intencionalidade de atuar como antropólogos, acabaram registrando a sua experiência de progressiva contaminação pela realidade altera do ‘outro’.

ABSTRACT
This research analyzed the drawings that were produced during the second expedition of the German ethnologist Karl von den Steinen to the Alto Xingu, based on a relationship between subjectivity and memory, highlighting the gaps, questions, silences and forgetfulness, regarding the perspectives and sensibilities that involve these drawings; which are presented to us indirectly, through the ‘traces’ left by the subjects who drew them, and which end up tensioning, escaping and decomposing the entire order and intentionality of the narrative proposed by Karl von den Steinen. In this sense, we seek to understand how the drawings made by Amerindian subjects during the second expedition were produced, collected, analyzed and narrativized, as well as the drawings made by Wilhelm von den Steinen and Johannes Gehrts; at the same time that we articulated this information with socio-historical records made and compiled by non-indigenous people, so that we could understand which currents of thought were dominant in this period, and how they influenced Karl von den Steinen in his theoretical and methodological foundations. Furthermore, we compare the analyzes carried out by Karl von den Steinen with the main ethnographic research carried out on the Amerindian peoples contacted by the expedition, aiming to understand the fundamental cosmological aspects of their cultures, and how these appear in their drawings. From the results obtained, we were able to understand that these drawings present themselves as traces of an experience of contact between different peoples and cultures, a process of reflection on the ‘self’ based on contact with the ‘other’. So that both the designers Boe and Kurâ, and the German artists Wilhelm and Gehrts, even without the intention of acting as anthropologists, ended up recording their experience of progressive contamination by the altered reality of the ‘other’.
