RESUMO
Nesta pesquisa, analisou-se os fiéis da Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD), com o principal objetivo de compreender como a influência religiosa contribui para a formação de suas inclinações políticas. O estudo foi conduzido junto aos membros da IURD na cidade de São Carlos, São Paulo, utilizando uma abordagem empírica descritiva. A metodologia se fundamentou na da aplicação de questionários e uma análise documental. Buscou-se coletar dados para analisar e descrever o perfil político desses fiéis. Os resultados revelaram que o alinhamento dos fiéis com as agendas religiosas, especialmente aquelas relacionadas às pautas de costumes, desempenha um papel significativo na configuração de seus perfis políticos. As respostas dos participantes indicaram uma visão política fortemente influenciada pela interação com os discursos propagados nos templos da IURD. Os comportamentos políticos dos fiéis, em grande medida, são moldados por esse mecanismo de cooptação subjetiva, que se manifesta de forma concreta em suas atividades cotidianas. O crescimento do segmento evangélico na sociedade brasileira, sua crescente participação nos debates políticos do país e a busca em se entenderem os fatores que influenciam as decisões políticas desses grupos religiosos justificam a relevância desta pesquisa, que busca compreender melhor os complexos vínculos entre religião e política na sociedade contemporânea.

ABSTRACT
In this research, the faithful of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (IURD) were analyzed, with the main objective of understanding how religious influence contributes to the formation of their political inclinations. The study was conducted with IURD members in the city of São Carlos, São Paulo, using an empirical descriptive approach. The methodology was based on the application of questionnaires and a documentary analysis. It sought to collect data to analyze and describe the political profile of these faithful. The results revealed that the alignment of the faithful with religious agendas, especially those related to customs issues, plays a significant role in shaping their political profiles. The responses of the participants indicated a political view strongly influenced by the interaction with the discourses propagated in the IURD temples. The political behaviors of the faithful are largely shaped by this mechanism of subjective cooptation, which manifests itself concretely in their daily activities. The growth of the evangelical segment in Brazilian society, its increasing participation in the country's political debates and the search to understand the factors that influence the political decisions of these religious groups justify the relevance of this research, which seeks to better understand the complex links between religion and politics in contemporary society.
